ヨハネ１３：３１−３２「ユダが出て行ったとき、イエスは言われた。『今こそ人の子は栄光を受けました。また、神は人の子によって栄光をお受けになりました。神が、人の子によって栄光をお受けになったのであれば、神も、ご自身によって人の子に栄光をお与えになります。しかも、ただちにお与えになります。』」

D. A. カーソン、カナダ出身の福音信仰の改革派神学の新約聖書学者、神学者は、注解書で、この箇所についてこう書きました。「さて、この福音書で発展させた話題を頂点に私たちを導いて、伝道者（ヨハネ）は、神御自身を啓示する最高の時を、御栄光の啓示の最大の時を、十字架の恥にある、と明確にします。」
